I never thought I’d end up living in Phra Khanong, but somehow it’s become my favorite neighborhood in Bangkok. It was never really on my list, more somewhere I passed through on the way to somewhere else. But ever since meeting my husband, it slowly turned into home, and now it’s hard to imagine living anywhere else.
Back then, Phra Khanong felt quieter, a little less developed compared to Thonglor or Ekkamai. Not much stood out, or maybe it just wasn’t the kind of place people were paying attention to. Now, there’s so much to do, yet it never feels overwhelming.

Little Observations
If I had to describe Phra Khanong, it’s not polished. But it’s not messy either. It sits somewhere in between, which is exactly why it works. You have cute cafes next to lowkey refined restaurants, houses tucked away in quiet sois, and then something unexpected like a huge football pitch just casually there.
What I noticed is the kind of people it attracts. A mix of locals who’ve clearly been here forever and expats who feel like they’ve actually settled in, not just passing through. People walking their dogs, some grabbing coffee at Karo and lingering outside a little longer than they need to, others a bit more dressed up.
And then you have places like X-space, a design-forward art space that feels almost random to find here. It’s tucked into a neighborhood you wouldn’t expect, where you turn into a quiet street and suddenly you’re standing in front of something that feels more curated, more intentional, almost like it belongs somewhere else. But somehow, it works.
That’s what makes this neighborhood stick. There are places you almost walk past if you’re not paying attention. It’s not somewhere that tries to impress you right away, but if you stay a little longer, it kind of grows on you without you realizing.
How to Spend a Day in Phra Khanong
Morning‘

Start slow and head to PRIDI, easing into the day with a coffee and something light. It’s the kind of place where you don’t feel rushed, so take your time before heading out. If you feel like moving a bit, book a court at Baan Padel.
Afternoon

If you’ve got a pet, or just want to stretch your afternoon a little longer, head to Detour. There’s a wine dispenser so you can try a bit of everything without committing to just one. It’s easy to lose track of time here, especially if you sit outside and let the day just pass by.
Evening

As it gets darker, make your way up to Sol & Luna. It’s one of those rooftops with really nice decor, an easy vibe, and a surprisingly stunning view of Bangkok, especially around sunset. You also wouldn’t expect to find something like this in Phra Khanong, which makes it feel even more like a hidden gem.
The Spots
For a hidden coffee break, head to Leek

This is where you go when you don’t really want to be seen. It’s quiet, tucked away, and feels like your own little pause in the middle of the day. Order a coffee with their chocolate chip cookie. It’s the kind of place that reminds you not every coffee spot needs to be a scene.
For a place that has everything, head to W District
This is where the night starts. It’s loud, a little chaotic, and somehow you always end up running into someone you know. Walk around, get whatever you’re craving, Thai, Japanese, Mexican, something random you didn’t plan for, and pair it with a drink.
For a cute Instagram moment, head to iki haus

Walking in feels like stepping into a perfectly framed post. Every corner just works without trying too hard. It’s one of those places that actually lives up to the hype.
For a creative reset, head to Arttra
This is where people come to make things. It’s lowkey, a little messy (in the best way), and feels welcoming even if you have no idea what you’re doing. Try a workshop, whether it’s ceramics, painting, or tufting, and just let yourself create something.
For an Alisa Liu moment, head to Theatre of Dream Warriors Ice Arena
There’s something about stepping onto a full-sized rink that just hits differently. It feels bigger, quieter, almost like you’re not in Bangkok anymore.
For something a little more high-energy, head to Training Ground Gym & Wellness Hub
It looks intense at first, but once you’re in, it feels surprisingly welcoming. The kind of place where people are focused and not judging.
For a fine dine date night, head to Cadence by Dan Bark

Dinner here feels like a progression, each course building on the last in a way that feels thoughtful but never overwhelming. Go for the full tasting menu and let it unfold the way it’s meant to.
Pimmi’s Perspective
Neighborhoods like Phra Khanong make me realize you don’t always need to be in the place that’s the most talked about or constantly busy. Sometimes the best days are the ones that feel a little more lowkey, yet it still has everything you need. And maybe that’s why Phra Khanong just works. Not because it’s trying to be something, but because it isn’t.
