If you’re not about dining under the hot sun by the beach, Ros Charoen by Kuang Seafood definitely checks the list.
Is it just me, or does anyone else start their restaurant search on Google Maps? Whenever I’m looking for somewhere new to eat, l type what I’m craving into the search bar and start scrolling through the top-rated spots. This time though, I stumbled across Ros Charoen while browsing on Grab, figuring out what to order. Of course, being me, I had to double-check if the food actually looked as good as the photos and whether people were saying it was bussing. So straight to Google Maps I went.
What immediately caught my eye was their stir-fried squid with salted egg, one of my all-time favorite dishes. That alone was enough to convince us to head over and try it ourselves.
Located inside a hotel in Jomtien, it’s honestly the kind of place we probably wouldn’t have walked into if we hadn’t seen the glowing reviews online. Once seated though, the staff were incredibly attentive. But let’s get into the food.

Our dishes came out fairly quickly, starting with the ‘Salted Egg Stir-Fried Squid’. Unlike some versions we’ve tried elsewhere that lean too overly wet, this one was rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. Plus, it came with the actual squid eggs (yum).
Seb ordered the ‘Fried Prawns with Chili,’ which was decent but nothing particularly memorable.

What we did really enjoy though was the ‘Yellow Crab Curry.’ While it was a bit light on the crab meat, the curry itself was excellent. Thick, eggy, and aromatic, it paired perfectly with rice. Definitely something we would order again.

For vegetables, we went with one of my personal favorites, ‘Stir-Fried Cabbage with Fish Sauce.’ This version stood out thanks to the addition of pork crackling on top, adding a crunchy contrast to the tender cabbage. The flavors were salty, deeply umami, and nicely glazed without being overly wet. Simple but deeply satisfying.
Pimmi’s Perspective
There are definitely plenty of seafood spots to explore in Pattaya. But if you’re looking for a relaxed place in Jomtien that serves solid Thai seafood without the heavy crowds, Ros Charoen is worth checking out.
